What is the difference between a Psychic and a Medium?

Prior to understanding my abilities and being trained by some of the best Mediums in the field, I have to admit I thought I knew what a Psychic was, but it turns out it’s a lot more complicated than what I originally thought. I also did not realize there are some people who are considered Mediums—I had never heard that term before.

During my training, I have come to realize not all Psychics and/or Mediums are the same. Some Psychics are also Mediums, you can’t be a Medium without being a powerful Psychic, however…most Psychics are not Mediums.

Psychics are generally people that can tell you about what is happening in your life (should you move, take a particular job, is your spouse cheating, should you go see a doctor, etc.). Some Psychics use different types of divination devices, (i.e., Tarot or Oracle cards, pendulums, crystals, reading tea leaves, etc.)

According to the definition, a Psychic is a person who claims to use extrasensory perception to identify information hidden from the normal senses, particularly involving telepathy or clairvoyance, or who performs acts that are apparently inexplicable by natural laws, such as psychokinesis or apportation.

Mediumship is the practice of purportedly mediating communication between familiar spirits or spirits of the dead and living human beings. Practitioners are known as “mediums” or “spirit mediums”.

Mediums communicate with the deceased. Regardless of if you were raised as a Christian and believe in ‘life after death’ or not, I can confidently say our loved ones are not gone forever. They exist in the Afterlife, and Mediums possess the ability to connect with them.

I want to stress, as with Psychics, not all Mediums are the same. Some only ‘hear’ the information, while some can only ‘sense’ what the person in Spirit is trying to communicate, and others only get their information from one of their ‘Guides’. Most Mediums can sense if your loved one is around; others can see them in their ‘minds eye’. Some get a strong ‘knowing’ of information from people in Spirit who would like to share. I am able to see, hear, feel, smell, and sense based on what the person in Spirit is willing to share. I can also sometimes see them standing close by, but I can always see them in my ‘minds eye’.

When I communicate with Spirits, it’s like playing a game of charades. They show me images that I describe to my client along with a strong sense of what they are wanting to convey, which I’ll share during the reading. This, in turn, provides validation to the client.

An Instructor once explained that some people are born with their gifts already fully developed, while others are dormant and they are unaware of their gifts. Some have been strong Psychics since they were children, while others have to work at it. They also explained that some people, no matter how long or how hard they have trained, will never be powerful, while others might only require a little nudging, and the door (to the afterlife) for them will swing wide open.

My recommendation is to do your homework before you book a reading with a Psychic or Medium. Determine which type of reading you need and research your options prior to booking the appointment. Read their Google, Facebook and other reviews. Go to their web site to research their experience and training. In your search, I am certain you will become aware of the differences which will help you to make an educated choice.

We are not all the same…
